Some recent teaching lessons:
-
In-person classes are much easier to pace than online ones.
-
For my teaching style, fewer slides work better. Cut things. Do not assume that stuffing everything into a class makes it better. Sometimes it only restricts my freedom to improvise when an idea comes to me.
-
When teaching smart people, show them the result first and explain the process afterward. Otherwise, they lose patience.
-
Let students work on it themselves. My strongest teaching skill is guiding people to ask questions and think, because that is how I talk to myself every day.
